The dos and don’ts of dealing with an unsightly zit

Whether you are a teenager or a grown up women, acne can make you press the panic button. You just want to make them disappear at once, but practically that is not possible. It takes time to cure acne completely and until then you have to deal with untimely breakouts that pop up with an aim of spoiling your day. You might want to hide your head and stay at home until the zit goes away, but what if it doesn’t disappear in a day or two. Will you continue sitting at home? Probably no!

In such a scenario, I think that hiding blemish is the way to go. There are really simple things you can do to conceal the zit with make-up and go out confidently as if nothing happened. Before you rush to get out your make-up kit and get started, here are some points your must remember:

  1. Don’t use heavy and chemical rich make-up products as they are hard to remove and blend into your skin. Always invest in light and natural product that suits your acne-prone and don’t cause redness and irritation.
  2. Do prep your skin before putting on the make-up to hide acne.  Begin with cleansing and follow with toning and moisturising. It is always great to use a make-up primer as it gives you an even canvas to work on.
  3. Don’t be afraid to be choosy when picking your concealer as it is the key to hide acne. You would want to choose a concealer of the shade that is very close to your natural skin tone. If you can find a concealer that also heals and prevents further breakout, then you are at an advantage. Consider Murad Blemish Treatment Concealer that heals as well as hides your acne.
  4. Do make sure that you remove all the make-up at night before you hit the bed. Use a proper make-up remover or cleanser to get rid of all the particles. If you don’t do so then the closed pores can harbour more acne-causing bacteria and you will end up making your breakout worse.
