Here are some hair care tips for looking after long hair.
* Brush your hair gently especially when de-tangling your hair. Tugging and brushing too hard will cause your hair to break. If your hair is very tangled, do not use a brush to right away, use your fingers or a wide toothcomb to tease out the knots first. Also, when de-tangling your hair work in small sections instead of the doing your whole head of hair at once.
* If you like your hair long or are growing it out, keep on having it trimmed at least every one to three months. If you do not keep your hair trimmed split ends will make your hair look unhealthy.
* Try to de-tangle hair before you wash your hair, it will be a lot harder to do this afterwards and never be rough with wet hair as it can break more easily.
* When you have washed your hair, do not rub with a towel instead just pat dry lightly. Do not wring your hair out like a pair of socks. If you have the time to, brush your hair gently with a wide toothcomb and then try to always let your hair dry naturally. If you must blow dry your hair, keep it on the coolest setting.
* When washing your hair, put a little blob of shampoo on top of your head and work down slowly into your hair. You do not need a handful of shampoo, as the suds will work their way down through your hair. Do not pile your hair on the top of your head and scrub this will just tangle it.
* Avoid wearing anything too tight in your hair such as bobbles or clips. If braiding your hair do not do this too tightly as this can lead to bald patches.
* Focus on putting your conditioner on the middle of your hair and the ends, leaving on for as long as you can. Try not to put too much if any on your roots as this can make hair look greasy and weight it down.
