Can a remix enhance the original?

To discuss the topic if a remix can enhance the original it is important to understand exactly what is meant by a remix. There are numerous types of remixes but it is mainly known as a a mix of the original which is supposed to be an improvement to the original but is this always the case?

Remix’s are often tied to music but there are remix’s of movies, books, clothes, shoes the list goes on. There are remix’s of almost everything today. A huge discussion on going in todays society is wether a remix enhance the original or if it is just a less creative and ruins the original. In my opinion a remix can be a huge improvement from original but depends on each remix as there are numerous different types and some are successful and lead to an enhancement but there are also numerous remix’s that fail extremely and are often looked down upon as it is seen as if they ruin the original. Remix's can also be said to not be such a creative idea as its taking something that already exists and tweeting it a bit.

“Sometimes, a remix is good because it reaches a whole new generation. But when it gets too much, it's irritating. Also, the original composer needs to be credited properly.” (A. R. Rahman) This quote for me perfectly sums up a remix as it explores the idea that a remix can be good until it is effected too much and changes to something completely difference which the audience may not be looking for. For me a prefect remix should only tweak small parts of the original which may make it look or sound more appealing but if too much is changed, like Rahman said it will only be irritating and not be worth the changes.

In your own opinion do you think it is easier to be successful with a remix or original?
